MARBL encourages the use of rare books, manuscripts, and archives in teaching and research at Emory University. For further information on any of the services listed below, please contact the Research Services staff (404-727-6871; marbl@emory.edu).
Instruction
Emory faculty who wish to use materials held in MARBL in a class should contact the Research Services staff (404-727-6887; marbl@emory.edu). In most cases, these materials must be used in one of the MARBL classrooms. To ensure that the materials and classrooms are available on the day of the class, please contact the MARBL staff at least one week before the class. The use of some materials may require approval by the Coordinator of Research Services. (Please see Collection Strengths and Finding Books, Manuscripts, and Audiovisual Materials for more information about the materials held at MARBL).
Research Services staff are available to provide instructions sessions tailored to meet the needs of particular classes. These sessions usually include an orientation to MARBL and examples of materials relevant to the course. MARBL instruction sessions are often done in conjunction with instruction sessions covering other library resources. To schedule an instruction session, please contact Naomi Nelson (libnn@emory.edu; 404-727-6871).
Reserves / BlackBoard
The Research Services staff is happy to work with instructors who wish to place materials held at MARBL on hold for their classes. These materials will be held at the MARBL reference desk under the name of the instructor. Students will be asked to follow the same policies and procedures as other researchers. To arrange to place materials on reserve, please call or email the Research Services staff at least one week before the materials will be needed (404-727-6887; marbl@emory.edu).
Many of the materials held at MARBL can be digitized for e-reserves or use in a BlackBoard site. Please contact Teresa Burk (tburk@emory.edu; 404-727-2332) to inquire about ordering digital copies for these purposes.
