An original score of "Jump Back."
In 1923, Dawson composed “Jump Back Honey, Jump Back,” a vocal solo with piano accompaniment that was published the same year by The Wunderlichs Piano Company in Kansas City, Missouri. Its lyrics were based on Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem, “A Negro Love Song.” Before it was published, Dawson produced several handwritten drafts of the song, including an almost-complete handwritten version which was reprinted by the H.T. FitzSimons Company in 1926, along with several other Dawson compositions (archival materials).
