Clive Watkins was born in Sheffield, England, in 1945. An English teacher, on his retirement he was the principal of one of the oldest schools in the country. His verse and critical writing—including, among other subjects, essays on Eugenio Montale, Wallace Stevens, Conrad Aiken, and Michael Longley—have appeared in journals in the UK, in Canada, in Denmark, and in the United States. He is an associate editor of The Waywiser Press. His collection, Jigsaw , was published in 2003.
